![]() ![]() Overall, I highly recommend a visit to PIER 39. There are also street performers and musicians who provide lively entertainment throughout the day. It was fascinating to see them up close and hear their distinctive barks. One of the highlights of my visit was watching the sea lions basking in the sun on the docks. The shopping opportunities are also plentiful, with a range of boutiques and souvenir shops to explore. I particularly enjoyed the seafood options, which were fresh and flavorful. ![]() There are numerous restaurants and cafes to choose from, serving delicious food and drinks. The location boasts stunning views of the bay and is a perfect spot to spend a day with family or friends. This destination offers a variety of activities and attractions for visitors of all ages. ![]() I recently visited PIER 39 and had a wonderful time. Overall, a wonderful experience and interesting part of history! Sections smell like bird poop since it is a nesting site. You can purchase both on the boat ride though. No food for purchase on the island, only water, so plan ahead. It’s a steep walk up to the cell house but there is a tram that can take you if needed. The gardens were amazing despite it being January so I can only imagine how pretty they are in full bloom. It took me around 2.5 hours to leisurely explore the nooks and crannies as well as do the audio tour, which was the highlight. You can choose to stay inside the boat or on the deck. The trip over and back is only about 15 minutes but very windy. I signed up for an 11am slot but when I got there at 10:30 they were loading the boat and we ended up leaving at 10:45 so I was happy I arrived early. I’m sure that’s because I was there in the off season (mid-Jan). Absolutely loved my day here! I bought a ticket online although I could have easily saved the $8 processing fee and bought it at the gate. ![]()
